Who is Magneto?
Magneto is the mutant Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, with the ability to control and manipulate magnetic fields as well as any type of metal. Born into a Jewish family, he was persecuted and imprisoned at Auschwitz during World War II. After escaping in 1944, he restarted his life in Russia under the name Magnus, married Magda, and fathered a daughter named Anya. Confronting a blackmailer, his house was set on fire, and Anya tragically died. It was then that he used his powers publicly for the first time, killing everyone present. Magneto later met Professor Charles Xavier and became friends with him, but their differing ideologies placed them on opposing sides. Magneto views mutants as the next stage in evolution, considering them superior to humans. Acting as a terrorist in favor of mutants against humanity, he founded the Brotherhood of Mutants to implement his vision of supremacy and became an enemy of the X-Men, Xavier's students fighting for peaceful coexistence between mutants and humans.
